Telugu University, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has established ‘Telugu Vignana Peetham’ with the confluence of six institutions, namely Sahitya akademi, Sangita Nataka akademi, Nritya akademi, Lalitakala akademi, Telugu Bhasha Samithi and Antarjatiya Telugu Kendram, already working for the propagation and preservation of Telugu language, literature, history, culture and arts. This Vignana Peetham was merged with the Telugu.

The University offers UG, PG, Certificate, Diploma and Research courses in the subjects of Telugu literature, Linguistics, Fine Arts, Performing Arts, History, Comparative studies, Translation studies, Sanskrit, English, Tribal Studies, Journalism and Astrology. All these courses are offered through the medium of Telugu.
